Nectar & Pollen from Kitchens Creek
Tims Ford Lake
Along the banks and wooded hollows surrounding Kitchens Creek at Tims Ford Lake in Franklin County, Tennessee, our bees forage across a rich landscape of native blooms and wild plants. The rolling hills and creek bottoms provide an abundant mix of nectar and pollen sources that give Big Hollow Honey its distinctive Southern Middle Tennessee character.
In the spring, wild blackberry bushes burst into bloom along fence rows and woodland edges, offering heavy nectar flows and protein-rich pollen that help build strong colonies early in the season. The blossoms produce a delicate, lightly fruity sweetness that carries into the honey.
Soon after, the air fills with the sweet fragrance of wild honeysuckle, which grows throughout the creek banks and surrounding forests. Honeysuckle provides a steady nectar source and contributes a smooth, floral sweetness with subtle aromatic notes that beekeepers across the South recognize in high-quality wildflower honey.
Our bees also gather from white clover, native wildflowers, tulip poplar, and other hardwood blooms common to the Tims Ford Lake watershed. This diverse forage produces a rich raw wildflower honey with layered flavors—soft floral sweetness, hints of berry, and the warm golden character of Tennessee honey.
Every jar reflects the natural forage of Kitchens Creek and the hills surrounding Tims Ford Lake, where healthy bees, clean water, and abundant wild blooms come together to create truly local honey.
